《人類的記憶》龐大攝影圖片展
法國文化協會與大溫哥華中華文化中心聯合主辦的一個大型攝影圖片展覽會，名為《人類的記憶》，將於11月4日至12月17日同時在文物館及多元文化禮堂舉行。
該項展覽展出圖片近1,000張，由超過100名攝影家提供，全部都是過去四屆國際人文攝影評獎的參與者。
國際人文攝影評獎賽由北京中國民俗攝影家協會於1998年度起，為一公開攝影比賽，主題以保存不同民族的(特別受危害的)文化遺產，及促進不同文明的交流。參賽者不限於專業攝影家，業餘興趣者亦受歡迎。該項比賽獲得聯合國教科文組織的支持，並頒發兩年一度的國際人文攝影獎給與對主題有啟發及貢獻的攝影者。
中國民俗攝影家協會成立於1963年，由身兼探險家及攝影家的沈澈創立，成員超過30,000人，分別來自各省的少數民族。成立以來，已建立了超過16,000張56個少數民族珍貴圖片的檔案收藏。
《人類的記憶》攝影圖片展曾於2005年在日本愛知縣世界博覽會的聯合國展館和巴黎展出過，極受歡迎。展覽內容囊括節日、日常生活、建築、體育、肖像、服飾及風俗等不同民族的風貌。2007年將巡迴至意大利展出。
Memories
of Humankind
The Alliance Française of Vancouver is proud to present the UNESCO
exhibition: Memories of Humanity, in partnership with the Chinese
Cultural Center and the Museum of Greater Vancouver in British Columbia.
This high profile event will run at the Chinese Cultural Center for a
period of six weeks. The opening will take place on November 4th, 2006
at 4 pm.
The exhibition features one thousand photographs, taken by one hundred
photographers who participated in the four biennial international
Humanity Awards competitions from 1998 to 2004 sponsored by UNESCO and
the Chinese Folkloric Photographic Association (CFPA). Memories of
Humankind ran at the UNESCO Pavilion at Expo Aiji, Japan in 2004 and
in Paris in 2005 to great critical acclaim. It will travel to Italy in
2007.
Both Alliance Française of Vancouver and the Chinese Cultural Center
embrace a similar mission of promoting dialogue between nations. Indeed,
the title of the exhibit in itself highlights our planet’s cultural
diversity. Memories of Humankind is made of stunning images that
celebrate ancestral rites and folk traditions displayed by theme:
festivities, daily life, costumes and customs, architecture, sport and
spare time… The aim is to focus on those cultures which are presently
threatened with extinction so as to promote the safekeeping of cultural
diversity and ethnic heritage.
